June has proven to be just as busy as March

Here I am at the second day of the Custer Street Fair
On Saturday the temps were near 100 degrees!
We were hot!
When I rented my 10x10 booth space
I never thought about how my paintings were going to fit in there
just assumed all would fit without any issues
But when you entered the tent, it was as though you stepped into a space filled with color!
My colors
my flowers
was wonderful
For Christmas, my mother in law gave me this parasol
If people weren't commenting on the paintings, they were commenting on this fabulous parasol!
there were occasions when I was outside of the tent and people seemed to know I was the artist
Thanks to this parasol
Thanks to this parasol for keeping my skin unexposed to that hot hot sun!
Thank you Granny :  )
Mike was with me the whole time
He helped with the set up and sales and the credit card machine
He brought me italian ice, lemonades, lunch
Yesterday (sat) was Mikes and my 19th wedding anniversary!
We have a tendency to forget dates like these, not sure why, they just seem to creep up on us
I asked Mike why he thought?
and his reply was so resonating for me...
...Mike said that we live our life as if it was a celebration every day
I loved that!
Theres Chunk sitting amongst the paintings while we unloaded the van
When we came home from the fair, there was a POD in the driveway that was delivered to us from Atlanta
Filled with what we all felt we should keep from Dans house
We spent the week unloading this pod into various spaces and places
My in laws are now moved back here
This will be the first week with no guests
except Larry the beagle
His family is vacationing and he always requests to stay at our house
says the treats are good here
plus an acher of fenced in back yard to run in!

I sold nine paintings three of them were my large ones
I've gathered all my supplies to get started on replacing those nine
I still have my hanging at the Glenwood
and another artist fair in August.

Treat today as if it were a day to celebrate
Big hug to you all
Thank you for all your support

Lisa D.

I've been thinking how we would mark the first year of Dan's death; the actual day is Wednesday, June 27th. Mike is so right, you do live each day as a celebration.

Lisa, your paintings, your art work pulsates with such an exuberance and excitment. Yes, it did over-flow your 10' X 10' space and spilled out onto the street and stopped folks at the fair in their tracks. People sensed there was a vitality here and were drawn to it. There was no doubt that you were the artist of these pieces of art! Just look at you standing there in your tent as if you were an extension of your art.

We came together for a Father's Day celebration on Friday night, June 22nd, at Mike and Lisa's because our middle son Tony, father of Alisabeth Renee, was with us, Ray, father and grandfather to this unruly clan, James, Zack's dad and Mike, oh, Mike made this wonderful dinner for everyone.

Mike's cooking is his art and we all benefit by it. For Father's Day on Friday he marinaded and grilled two pork tenderloins drizzled afterwards with his grandmother's Bar-B-Q sauce, a grilled pineapple salsa (OMG is that to die for) and grilled corn on the cob with cuman butter. Tony bought one of those humungus apple pies from Costco served ala mode with ice cream AND whip cream. Would you say that we indulged? AND CELEBRATED!

Dan received a gift of the book
"The Precious Present" during his illness and it captured his Spirit and he read it out loud to his kids, Cal and Char and gave copies of it to his close friends. It is a wonderful tale about living in the present...the precious present, maybe we'll read that outloud on Wednesday.

When I mull over the lifes of so many folks that have gone before us and folks that are still among us I think how each of their lifes reflect a passion, a purposefulness and attention to the moment.

Ray and I are blessed beyond all measure.

Oh, I wish I'd been there! That booth is so inviting! You inspire me with your big format, and of course, I always gush on and on about how cool your work is, so I'm not going to do that here. But it is.

Happy anniversary to you two!
