Not enough hours in the day

Life has been keeping me busy! and blogging has taken a backseat.
I try to think about what to write here and I get a flood of thoughts with emotions and it just feels like too much. So here are some photos of whats been keeping me busy.

I havent done a self-portrait in a long time...when I look at past portraits, they always have this look. I'm not sure why, hidden emotion escaping maybe

I spent some time in Texas with my sister and an artist friend Cathy
I had such a great time with you Cathy!
Such a beautiful area...I know Keiki loves it!
My sister accomplished her goal with her marathons
She has like 15 medals!
love her

 I wake to paint

Our Hannah turned 18 while no one was looking!

Gosh a month and a day past!

In one months time I managed to finish four commissions!
The one above was for a thumb print guestbook at a wedding!
In the end I painted their names and the wedding date at the bottom
Sometimes when I'm painting and starting to feel a bit tense, I find myself making these wild flowers!
is it silly to say...i love my brushes

Always wanting to be the star of the show!
 My shrine of snowflakes
my wish came true and we got almost a foot of snow!

Here I am painting my 4th commission
4x5

This was a challenge
but in the end everyone loved it!

Here is the painting in its new home!

Have a great day!

Life around here

I've been locked up in the art room since I got back from Palmyra!
It excites me in a funny way to think that I'm working everyday on my art
Like as in a job!
I've been given the opportunity to do four commissioned pieces!

We have gotten just a bit of snow
I prefer the blizzard kind

Spending our Saturdays and some Sundays playing wheelchair basketball
A small gift for my Father in law
Mr. Cooper keeping warm
Working on Scotts commissioned piece

Notes...sketching...and cool colors
A wedding gift commission

Hope you're all keeping warm and feeling creative!

Six days in Palmyra

I few years ago I met Priti Lisa through blogging and felt an instant connection
After chatting here and there about me coming to visit
I did!

We made a little art for a birthday gift
I thought it kind of funny that we both carried a very similar purse
Lisa is the best cook!
She made me this omelet filled with cheese and asparagus
YuM!
At the end of my six days we had to laugh at how many boxes of wine we went through in such a short period of time. We even found a little one, like my own juice box :  )
I had planned on having my hair cut by Deb at Dinunzio's BarberShop
Deb~Lisa~Me
One of the best things about being with Lisa, was being able to see all of her art that I've only seen on line. I painted this for her and she let me take the piece of art that I wanted
I didn't take a pic of that yet, but will
Everything as I had left it was waiting for me when I got home

I had a great time!
Thank you Lisa & Deb

Now I have 4 commissions to start
3 due in February
1 due early March

I'll be back with photos of my progress
Have a great day!

Christmas crafting

So far this has turned out to be a Tree crafting Chistmas
I had been sick with some sort of consumption
and spent two days cutting out circles to make this tree
then I saw the idea to sew a tree
When we first moved to our home (13yrs ago) we had just lost Jake
This new home was on an acre of land
I made a memorial garden/flower bed for Jake
When we lost my brother in law last summer
I felt Jakes garden needed to be able to hold many memorials
the photo below shows the star fish Char & I picked out for Dan
Hasn't made it to the garden yet
I kind of like seeing it daily
Remember these from 2 wks ago?

 They have evolved
 These are Debbies
shes so good!
 Here are many of them
Hard to photograph because of their size
We sure had fun making them

I rarely work with clay
my hands aren't good at molding it
but I surely enjoyed all the company
I'm ready to mail off my swirl commission tomorrow
I'll miss it
The longer it takes to work on something
The more attached I am to it

Wednesday, Stephy, Zacks girlfriend will be over to make some trees with me
and then I'm done with crafting!
for this this year

I will start my next commission next week!

Have a great day!
